Investing in the health and wellbeing of our community

We seek to make a difference in our community, building partnerships and investing in preventative health and research to address some of Australia's biggest health concerns. We're playing our role in supporting the health and wellbeing of all people in Australia.

Together with doctors, hospitals and governments, we're creating new models of care to support all members of the community and seek reforms to strengthen our health system.

Community support

We recognise the important role we play in supporting the health and wellbeing of all people in Australia. In the 2023 financial year, we contributed more than $3 million to the community with a focus on partnerships and activities, health and medical research, and shining a light on issues including loneliness, mental health and health equity.

Health research

We are proud to continue our long standing tradition of supporting health and medical research. Our Medibank Better Health Foundation aims to be a catalyst for positive change – investing in, advocating, promoting and disseminating research insights to promote healthy behaviours, inform policy and improve clinical practice.

10-year commitment to address loneliness

Loneliness has an impact on all facets of peoples' lives – health, relationships, study and work. We know chronic loneliness can lead to long-term health implications and we are committed to address this in our community. You can read more about our commitment here.

Programs and activities

We are committed to investing in the health and wellbeing of the Australian community. This includes supporting a range of programs and events to encourage a healthier body, mind and spirit.

Live Better at Home

We know that caring for yourself helps you to care for those around you. That’s why we created Live Better at Home, a free program of Eat, Move and Feel activities delivered by a series of experts.

parkrun

As the official health and wellbeing partner of global running (and walking) phenomenon parkrun, we share their mission to create a healthier and happier community.  parkrun organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs in nearly 400 locations around Australia every Saturday morning. Our partnership supports parkrun so it can continue making regular physical exercise more accessible to as many Australians as possible by breaking down barriers to entry and to encourage ongoing participation.

Indigenous health and wellbeing

We know that the health inequality of our nation’s First Peoples affects, and is the responsibility of, all Australians. We believe the path to better health is through working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through a whole-of-community effort and by fostering national pride in the enduring value of our First Nations’ cultures. We remain committed to this path.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our commitment to the reconciliation effort in Australia. You can learn more about our current RAP here.
