Partnering with Australian Red Cross is the way Medibank continues its long-standing tradition of supporting communities in times of need.
Encouraging people to plan and prepare for unexpected disaster is part of our focus. Medibank supports the Australian Red Cross National Disaster Preparedness Week each year as well as contributing to relief in times of crisis in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region when it’s needed most.

Medibank is a proud major sponsor of global running (and walking) phenomenon Parkrun. With a shared mission to create a healthier and happier community, Parkrun organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs in over 350 locations around Australia every Saturday morning. Medibank’s partnership is designed to make regular physical exercise more accessible to as many Australians as possible by breaking down barriers to entry and to encourage regular participation.
Just as we eat well and stay fit to keep our bodies healthy, mindfulness meditation helps us keep our mind healthy.
Mindfulness is proven to lead to better attention, memory, regulation of emotions and self-awareness. In turn, improvements in these areas can lead to reduced stress, anxiety and depression, better academic skills, social skills, and self-esteem.
Designed by psychologists and educators, Smiling Mind is Australia’s leading mindfulness meditation app with over 4 million users providing a range of programs for adults, children and families. Through guided meditations and mindfulness activities, you can learn to manage the challenges of daily life at school, work and at home.
Medibank is proud to be the Official Health Partner of Smiling Mind, supporting their goal of reaching five million young people by 2021. Our commitment will help Smiling Mind expand its valuable tools and resources, particularly focusing on supporting parents with mindfulness programs they can use with their children.

Medibank Feel Good Program
Refresh and recharge with a range of free outdoor fitness classes in Brisbane.
Breathe in the fresh air, feel the group energy and get moving in a way that makes you feel good. The Medibank Feel Good Program brings you a range of outdoor group fitness classes, including yoga, bootcamp, dance, ‘mums and bubs’ and much more – all against the leafy backdrop of Brisbane’s South Bank. Selected classes will also be available in Queen’s Park, Brisbane CBD.
Medibank has partnered with Brisbane’s outdoor fitness series since 2015, because we know how much community events like these can invigorate your life. Whether you’re in the mood to sweat hard, stretch out and breathe, or just come along and try something new, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Head to the beach for surfing, yoga and good conversation. OneWave is a vibrant mental health community connected by the ocean.
There’s something magical about the ocean. Getting active at the beach invigorates your body and soothes your mind, giving you a dose of ‘saltwater therapy’.
OneWave captures this energy in weekly Fluro Friday sessions, held at beaches around Australia. Dressed in bright colours, groups gather to surf, practice yoga and talk it out, raising awareness for mental health and making a difference, one wave at a time.
Medibank is working with OneWave to bring this experience to more people around Australia. In 2019, our support will help OneWave deliver, 10 new Fluro Friday locations (increasing to 25 locations around Australia), 20 OneWave schools programs reaching 10,000 students and 200 free surf lessons.
No Lights No Lycra
Dance like no one’s watching: the mantra of No Lights No Lycra.
Join this dance-in-the-dark movement that’s free from judgement and full of self-expression. Each session — no light, no lycra, no teacher — is a chance for you to unleash the dance moves you usually save for the living room.
No Lights No Lycra (NLNL) is changing physical and mental health one dance move at a time according to a recent study by Sydney University. The study found that 95% of dancers thought No Lights No Lycra improved their physical health and 97% felt it improved their mental health, with 88% admitting NLNL helped them break their inactive lifestyles.
In 2019, we’re proud to partner with a community of movers and shakers on a 10-year celebratory events in July, in that is free to participate in for all Australians. We’re also excited to help bring No Lights No Lycra to schools around the country, later this year, as part of our Medibank Free + Active program.
Laughter Clubs Victoria
Boost your mood with the feel-good rush of laughter.
Laughter makes us feel good, and it’s contagious in the best possible way. Laughter Clubs Victoria brings people together to share in this sparkling feeling through ‘laughter yoga' – a joyful practice of deliberate laughter and breathing exercises.
Medibank has partnered with Laughter Clubs Victoria since 2018, and we’re excited to continue supporting them to bring more smiles to more people. Locations include throughout Victoria and affiliate clubs in SA and QLD.
