Apply for financial hardship assistance through Medibank’s Member Support Package
Medibank’s $180 million COVID-19 Member Support Package has been extended to allow eligible members experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 to access a temporary premium reduction of 50% for a period of six months.*
Who is eligible for the temporary premium reduction?
The financial hardship assistance policy has been designed to support eligible members* who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of reduced income/work hours due to COVID-19.
Are you an eligible member?
The Financial Hardship assistance package is only available to Medibank residential health members who have held their cover for at least three months. Members with Overseas Visitors Health Cover or Overseas Workers Cover should contact Medibank on 132 331, or on 134 148 if you are an Overseas Student Health Cover member, to discuss your membership.
You will be asked to provide documentation to support your financial hardship claim. Please refer to the 'important information' section below to see what can be provided.
To apply, please log in to My Medibank and fill out the financial hardship assistance application form. A member of our team will then be in touch to confirm your eligibility.
Important information for you to know
Accepted documentation to support your hardship claim can include:
- JobSeeker Payment - previously called NewStart
- Austudy / Abstudy
- Youth Allowance
- Sickness Allowance
- Parenting Payment
- Document from employer confirming Jobkeeper payment
This form will enable Medibank to determine if you are eligible to receive assistance through our Member Support Package.
To process your financial hardship application, Medibank will collect certain information about you (including the information described above). Medibank will use this information to confirm your eligibility and contact you to discuss your application. We may be unable to process your application without this information.
