As part of our COVID-19 financial support package and give back program, Medibank will return around $105 million in COVID-19 savings to our members.

The give back program will be available to Medibank and ahm members who held an active, resident hospital and/or extras policy between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021. Excluding non-resident covers.

Approximately 2 million policies will be eligible, and the majority of members should expect to receive it as premium relief by the end of September 2021.

Depending on the type of policy you hold, the premium relief will be up to $52 for extras only policies and up to $175 for hospital and extras policies – which on average will be $25 for extras only policies and around $60 for hospital and extras policies.

This give back program adds to our record $195 million financial support package during COVID-19 – with the total package reaching $300 million so far.

We will continue to assess known claims savings and return any savings back to our members.

Other ongoing Medibank member support

Members doing it tough financially continue to be able to apply for policy suspensions or other options including support with paying premiums.

Members are still able to receive a temporary benefit towards heart, lung and kidney hospital admissions, including those related to COVID-19, regardless of their hospital cover.

Continued extended extras for telehealth services such as psychology and physiotherapy.

Continued access for all Australians to Live Better at Home, a free online program of work out videos, cooking demonstrations and guided meditations.

For ambulance attendance or transportation to a hospital where immediate professional attention is required and your medical condition is such that you couldn't be transported any other way. Tasmania and Queensland have state schemes to cover ambulance services for residents of those states.

⁶ Two month waiting period may apply. Limited to two dental check-ups on all extras annually. Maximum two bitewing x-rays per check-up, where clinically needed. Not available in all areas.
