Good news! We’re continuing to give back to our members

The pause on premium increases has been extended for a further month to 1 November 2022. And eligible members will receive a cash give back paid directly to their account later in the year - bringing our total support package to $682 million.

We know every bit matters 

We promised we’d return any COVID-19 savings to members. We’re doing this by pausing 2022 premium increases, now for an extra month until 1 November 2022. We’ll send you details of your new premium amount a bit closer to that time.
We're also giving cash back to eligible members. The cash back will be paid directly into the account your claims are credited to. Updating your bank details is easy, see how.
We hope this helps ease the load in the face of rising household costs.

What does this mean for you?

If you had a resident Hospital or Extras policy with us between 1 January 2022 and 30 June 2022, and are the policyholder, you will be eligible for our cash give back. You will receive a communication from us later in the year confirming the cash give back amount. This will average approximately $28 for Extras only policies, $90 for Hospital only policies, and $123 for Hospital & Extras policies. 

If we have your bank details this will be transferred to the same bank account we pay your claims to. If we don’t have your bank details, you will receive free days of cover to the equivalent value. To check your bank details or to update them you can do so through your My Medibank account - more details on how to do so can be found below.

Medibank had previously paused our premium increase for 6 months until 1 October, this has now been extended to 1 November. We’ll be in touch later in the year with details of your 2022 premium change.

Our cash give back and our extension of the pause on premium increases to 7 months, takes our COVID-19 customer give back support package to a record $682 million.

This is our latest initiative in our wider giveback program that returns COVID-19 claims savings to our members. Earlier this year we announced a 6 month pause on increasing premiums and in 2021 we also gave eligible members free days of cover.

We understand that members have not been able to access their usual health services, so we have extended Telehealth services for 9 allied health services such as psychology and physiotherapy.^
