Good news! We’re pausing our premium increase

Throughout the pandemic we have continued to support our members both financially and with their health and wellbeing.

We know every bit matters right now

We promised we’d return any COVID-19 savings to members. This year, we’re pausing our premium increase for 6 months, until 1 October 2022. You don't need to do anything. This will happen automatically.

What does this mean for you?

Each April all health insurers review their premiums and adjust their rates to meet the rising costs of healthcare. All customers who have resident hospital or extras cover with Medibank will have their annual premium increase paused for 6 months, until 1 October 2022.

You don’t need to do anything. We’ll be in touch mid-year with details of your 2022 premium change.

Pausing premium increases takes our COVID-19 support package to $463 million, created to support our members through the pandemic.

In 2021 we also gave eligible members free days of cover.* The majority of our members will have received this in the second half of 2021, however if you are an annual or bi-annual payer then you may receive this in 2022. That number of free days you received depends on how long you’ve been with us and what type of cover you have. You don’t need to do anything to claim your free days of cover.

*every eligible Medibank member who held an active, resident hospital and/or extras policy any time between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021 will benefit.
