Get to know Medibank
At Medibank we are motivated by improving the health of all Australians and the health of our members. We are passionate about building a better health system that is centred on people, and sustainable in the long term.
Medibank’s core business is the underwriting and distribution of private health insurance policies through our two brands, Medibank and ahm.
We also provide a range of integrated healthcare services to our private health insurance policyholders, government, corporate and other retail customers.
Medibank’s headquarters are in Melbourne, Victoria, and we have operations throughout Australia.
Our purpose and values
Our purpose: for better health. Everything we do is aimed at delivering better health to 3.8 million members and better health for all Australians through our provision of health services, our health system advocacy, and our work in the community.
Our purpose is backed by four key values, which inform all of our actions.
Our strategy is built on five pillars - customer-centred healthcare, health cost leadership, growth, operational excellence, and our people.
Products and services
From our core private health insurance retail business to our complementary services, including life, pet and travel insurance, and telephone health lines, Medibank’s diverse business is aimed at improving the health of more people in more ways than ever.
From the formation of Medibank in 1976 to today, our history is a continuing story of healthcare success. By 1981 we were the market leader for private health insurance in Australia, and we have maintained that position ever since through our commitment to customer focus, innovation, and delivery of first-class healthcare products and services.
Every year, Medibank releases an annual report on the health of the business.
