How does the program work? Medibank’s Refer a Friend program is all about rewarding our customers when they refer a friend to join Medibank.

What do I receive if I refer a friend? When a friend you have referred joins Medibank, you will get a $100 Eftpos gift card. But remember, your friend needs to tick all of the eligibility criteria for you to receive your Eftpos card.

How long do I have to wait for my Eftpos card? Once your friend has been a member for 30 days, your Eftpos card will be sent out to you. This may take up to 8 weeks to arrive, from the date your friend commenced their cover.

How many referrals can I make? You can make five successful referrals during a calendar year. That’s $500 for you!

What does my friend get? When your friend joins Medibank on an eligible cover, they will get 4 weeks free, plus they will have their 2&6 month waits waived on most extras.

What level of cover do I need to be on? To refer friends to Medibank you need to hold an eligible hospital and or extras product. Excluded policy holders include, Accident cover, Visitor health cover, Working Visa health cover, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), Ambulance cover, ahm cover and other selected covers.

What cover does my friend need to take out? Your friend will be eligible for 4 weeks free cover, when they take out an eligible combined hospital and extras cover or corporate hospital and flexi extras cover.

I haven’t received my card, what should I do? Firstly, remember your friend must hit all eligibility criteria before you receive your card. Your card will also take up to 8 weeks to arrive from the day your friend commenced their cover. If you are still expecting your card and it hasn’t arrived, give us a call on 1800 057 063.

For current Medibank members who hold an eligible hospital and/or extras cover ("you”) and refer a friend that enters the promo code ‘FAMILY AND FRIENDS’ and quotes your unique referral code at the time of join (“friend”). An eligible referral is made if the friend joins eligible combined hospital and extras cover regardless of the scale (single, family, couples, single parent), the friend maintains the eligible cover for at least 30 continuous days and meets all other eligibility criteria. Referral payments will be capped to 5 within a calendar year and reset on 1 January each year. The maximum referral payment per member in a calendar year will be $500 worth of Eftpos gift cards. You cannot share any part of the referral payment with the friend. This offer can be withdrawn or amended by Medibank at any time prior to you making an eligible referral. The $100 Eftpos gift card will be payable only if the friend meets all applicable eligible terms and conditions and you are still a member at the time the gift card is sent. Not available with any other offer. Eftpos gift card terms: Card will be posted to the address on your membership and may take up to 8 weeks to arrive from the time the friend joins eligible cover and meets the eligibility criteria.
