What is the PALM scheme?
The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is an Australian Government initiative that enables workers from ten Pacific Island and Timor-Leste countries to take up short-term or long-term employment in Australia, in sectors including agriculture, horticulture, meat processing, and aged care.
PALM workers hold a Subclass 403 Temporary Work (International Relations) visa. Visa condition 8501 requires all PALM workers to maintain adequate health insurance for the full duration of their stay in Australia.
