How to get more from your Extras

Extras cover is great to have when you’ve pulled a muscle, need a filling or rolled an ankle. But it’s also great for helping to prevent some of these things happening in the first place.

Here are a few tips for getting the best value from your Extras.

  1. Make sure you have the right cover

The first step to getting the most out of your Extras is making sure you have the right cover. If you’re not claiming for some services, it may be time to consider another one of our covers to better suit to your needs.

  1. Use Members’ Choice Providers

When you use our Members’ Choice providers, you’ll generally pay less in out-of-pockets costs than you would if you used a provider outside our network, as we’ve negotiated the maximum amount you can be charged for their services.

  1. Keep an eye on your annual limits

Unused annual limits don’t carry over, so if you have a need for particular services, make sure you use them! For most Extras services, annual limits reset on January 1, so mark your wall calendars, diaries or digital agendas, or do whatever you need to do to remind yourself.

  1. Get 100% back on your annual dental check-up and clean

Don’t let your dental check-up and clean go to waste. Medibank Extras cover gives you 100% back on an annual dental check-up and clean (excludes x-rays) at any Members’ Choice dentist. And this is on top of your annual limit. Who’s smiling now?

  1. Get a new pair of prescription glasses

Be savvy when using your annual limits on optical items and you could get a new pair of prescription glasses. Some of our Members’ Choice providers have great deals for members, depending on the items you choose.

Just remember that waiting periods may apply before you can claim on extras services.
