Glorious green smoothie recipe

What you eat while you’re pregnant is important. While the long-held idea that you need to ‘eat for two’ is actually an exaggeration, it’s important that you get plenty of specific nutrients, like iodine, iron and folic acid.

Get your day off to the best start with this fresh, nourishing smoothie combo. This smoothie is packed with green goodness for you to enjoy and it’s easy to prepare – just pop all the ingredients in a blender.

2 stalks kale (remove the stems and just use the leaves)
1 cup coconut water or filtered water
A handful of fresh mint leaves
1 cup baby spinach leaves
1⁄2 green apple
Juice of 1⁄2 lemon
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 teaspoon stevia powder
A handful of ice cubes
1⁄2 banana
Chia seeds, sunflower seeds and chopped walnuts (to serve)
1 teaspoon turmeric (optional)

1. Blend, pour, top with chia and sunflower seeds and chopped walnuts. Enjoy!
