If you’re planning on starting or extending your family, it’s important that you’re aware there is a 12 month waiting period for obstetrics-related services that must be served before the baby is born. Remember babies can come early, so it’s important to take this into account when you start planning your family.
If you’re joining Medibank from another Australian health fund at the same level of cover or lower, you don’t need to re-serve waiting periods you’ve already served.~
Although private health insurance will cover part of your pregnancy, you should be aware that you will still have out-of-pocket expenses to pay. We recommend that you talk to your obstetrician, the hospital and us about what the costs might be.
