More about Work Better by Medibank
In the App, you’ll find your workplace’s health and wellbeing services and resources, ready for you whenever you need them. You can access a clinician-backed health assessment to find your focus areas, and discover bite-sized general health and wellbeing content on topics like exercise, women’s health, mental health, sleep, and nutrition.
The App also allows you to sync data from your existing health apps, so you can view your trends and stay motivated, along with challenges you can complete with your colleagues.
The Work Better by Medibank App is a solution created by Medibank, for employees of its partnered workplaces to access their workplace health and wellbeing resources. You don’t need to have private health insurance to use the App.
Logging in
Your workplace will let you know when they’ve partnered with Work Better by Medibank, so you can go ahead and start using the App. If you’re not sure, check with your manager, or the health and wellbeing team at your workplace.
You’ll only be able to access the App if your workplace has partnered with Work Better by Medibank. If you believe you should have access to the App, but you’re receiving an error message when attempting to log in, here’s what to do next:
- If the error appears once you enter your work email address on the page “Log in with your work email”
- Make sure you’ve entered your work email address and not a personal email
- Double check there are no spelling errors or extra characters in your email address
- Send us an email us at workbetterapp@medibank.com.au
- If you’re able to proceed with your work email, but receive an error while completing your workplace’s single sign-on process, take note of any prompts you might receive, such as resetting your password. If you become stuck while trying to complete your workplace’s single sign-on process, reach out to the IT team at your workplace.
Your data
Data is securely stored within Australia and the United States.
Data stored in Australia is within our technology provider’s Virtual Private Cloud. Our technology partner has undertaken Medibank’s security and compliance evaluation and has contractual information security safeguards in place with its third-party vendors.
Our storage partners are SOC 2 Type 2 and HITUSRT certified, and their security controls are assessed regularly.
Access to the App on your phone is protected by multi-factor authentication.
Your employer does not receive any identifiable health information about you. Only when there are enough Health Profile responses completed by employees at your workplace, your employer will receive a report with deidentified and aggregated data about the health and wellbeing of the workforce. This report helps them plan what health and wellbeing resources would be most useful to offer at your workplace.
Your Work Better by Medibank App account is separate from any private health insurance account you may have. Health data you enter in the App will not impact your health insurance in any way.
Your data is carefully handled in accordance with Medibank’s privacy policy and the Work Better by Medibank App Terms of Service.
The Work Better by Medibank App makes use of Machine Learning, a type of Artificial Intelligence (AI), to show you more relevant health content and courses within the App. For example, if users similar to you have enjoyed a course about improving their sleep habits, that course may be recommended to you within the App.
On the Home page of the App, select the cog icon in the top right to access the Settings page. Under the Account section, select Communication Preferences. Here you can use the toggles to update your push notification and email preferences.
If you’ve toggled on push notifications in the App, but are still not receiving any, make sure to check in your device settings, that you’ve given the Work Better by Medibank App permission to send you push notifications.
Please note, even if you have marketing emails turned off, you may still receive emails directly from your workplace about the App.

To delete your Work Better by Medibank account, head to the Home page of the app and click the cog wheel in the top right to access ‘Settings’. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select ‘Delete your account’. Follow the prompts to confirm.
Please note that once your account is deleted, we still need to retain some information in accordance with minimum retention periods under law.

Navigating the App
The Work Better by Medibank App gives you access to your workplace’s health and wellbeing services whenever and wherever you need them. You can head there by selecting the ‘Health Hub’ icon at the bottom of the App. If you can’t see the ‘Health Hub’ icon at the bottom of your App, you may need to use the back or exit buttons at the top of the page first.
The Work Better by Medibank App includes a growing library of evidence-based health courses on topics such as exercise, women’s health, mental health, sleep, and nutrition. To view all the available courses, select the ‘Activities’ icon at the bottom of the App. Select the ‘Explore’ tab at the top of the page, then scroll down to the section ‘Explore all courses’.
Your workplace will let you know when there’s a new challenge available, for example a 30-day step challenge, so you can sign-up yourself, or join a team with your colleagues. You’ll see the challenge on the ‘Home’ page, or you can go to the ‘Activities’ page and scroll down to the ‘Challenges’ section when a challenge is active and open for you to join. Click into the challenge and make sure to register during the sign-up period so you don’t miss out.
Connecting other apps and devices
If you’re already tracking your health data with Apple Health, Garmin, Fitbit, Withings, or Polar, you can sync this data with the Work Better by Medibank App to generate trends, and allow you to automatically log your steps or other metrics during challenges.
Syncing Google Health data with the Work Better by Medibank App will be available soon.
On the Home page of the Work Better by Medibank App, select the cog icon in the top right to open Settings. Under the Account section, select Apps and Devices. Follow the prompts for the app or device you want to connect.
