Leadership and clinical professional development

Leadership development

In FY25, we deepened our commitment to leadership development by embedding our Ways of Being across the organisation. This shared approach shapes how we lead, collaborate and grow, and sets clear expectations for our leaders in our ways of working. We provide leaders with choice and control over their development. Their learning is embedded in how they work, with a focus on leading through change, fostering a feedback culture, coaching others and adapting to new challenges. Programs include a mix of experiential workshops, coaching, self-assessment and peer learning.

One of our unique leadership programs, Leadership Edge, is designed to equip our senior leaders with the mindset and capabilities to drive our strategic transformation and realise our 2030 vision. Over five months, 10 leaders participated in a series of individual and collective learning experiences. Reflecting our commitment to empowering women in leadership, 50% of participants in FY25 were female.

Clinical professional development

We are building and expanding clinical training for our customer support teams including through access to Ausmed, supporting recertification in first aid and CPR, and delivering in-house professional supervision for our mental health teams. We hosted student nurses in our home health business and are looking to further opportunities with universities to host medical students in the future.

Through our new trial to deliver virtual nursing into residential aged care homes on behalf of the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, we are training both our people and those in the aged care homes to utilise new technology to enable remote consultations.  Across our health business we are identifying ways to further upskill our people to deliver care through new channels such as webchat, and into new care settings.
