No. You can book a psychology appointment without a referral. If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates.

If you're eligible, Medicare claims can be submitted through the Amplar Health Online Psychology platform. You'll pay the full consultation fee upfront, and any rebate will be paid directly into your Medicare-linked bank account.  

Eligible Medibank members with Mental Health Support benefit included in your Extras cover^* may be able to claim benefits, depending on your type of cover and annual limits. Please check your cover and inclusions via My Medibank. Keep in mind that you cannot claim using a MHTP and your private health for the same appointment. 

A Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), also commonly known as a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), is a plan prepared by a GP to support people experiencing a mental health condition. It outlines treatment goals, recommended support, and can provide access to Medicare rebates for eligible mental health services.

Costs will vary depending on the funding option that you select. Pricing is shown during the booking process, and you’ll have the chance to review this before proceeding with your booking.

Appointments are generally available within 48 hours, including early morning, after-hours and weekend options. Availability depends on clinician schedules and your preferences. 

Yes. You can browse psychologist profiles and select the clinician that best suits your needs. 

You’ll have the chance to answer an online questionnaire and provide information about your needs, goals and preferences. Based on your answers, you’ll be connected to a suitable psychologist that best suits your needs. Or alternatively you can choose to browse available psychologists and pick one yourself. 

You can access registered general psychologists with a wide range of experience in mental health.

If your psychologist is not the right fit, Amplar Health Online Psychology can help connect you with another psychologist who may better suit your needs. You can contact the support team for assistance.

Yes. A support team will assist you with bookings, appointments, platform access and general enquiries. 

You can cancel or reschedule appointments; however cancellation fees may apply: 

• More than 48 hours: No fee 

• 24 to 48 hours: 50% fee 

• Less than 24 hours: 75% fee 

• No-show: Full session fee may be charged 

You'll need an internet connection and a smartphone, tablet or computer with video capability. If you have any technical difficulties you can contact the support team for assistance. 

Yes. With your consent, information can be shared with your GP or referring healthcare provider to support your care.

Amplar Health Online Psychology is currently available to anyone aged 12 years and over. For support for someone under 12, we suggest speaking with a GP or healthcare professional about appropriate services.
