I have so many fond memories of this dish. The first time I cooked it was five years ago and I was so nervous when it came time to flip the tart, but I was jumping for joy around my kitchen when it turned out perfectly. Because of how simple and impressive it was, it’s become one of my go-to desserts to make for gatherings, especially in winter.
I now love seeing people’s nervousness and excitement as I go to flip it in the pan and out oozes this flaky, gooey, golden apple tart that’s steaming hot. That part really adds so much theatre to serving the dessert and has everyone asking about how it’s made. It really is a great dessert for sharing, because it can be whipped up at a moment’s notice and it’s all made in the one pan. Plus, who doesn’t love apples, caramel, puff pastry and ice cream together!
