Paul Koppelman appointment Chief Financial Officer at Medibank

Medibank is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Koppelman as Chief Financial Officer.

With more than 20 years' financial experience, Paul is well-equipped to deal with a role that will see him both Chief Financial Officer and Group Executive of Finance & Corporate Services of an organisation that is going through a significant transformation.

George Savvides, Managing Director of Medibank, says, "It is with great pleasure that we welcome Paul Koppelman to the Medibank team. His expertise and experience will be of immeasurable value to the organisation."

Mr Koppelman joins Medibank from Pacific Brands, where he was General Manager, Corporate Finance. Previously, he was Chief Financial Officer for the Aluminium and Commercial divisions of BHP Billiton.

During his time as Chief Financial Officer of AXA Australian and New Zealand, Mr Koppelman guided the organisation through a key transformation. This experience will be invaluable as he joins Medibank during an important period of development, as Mr Savvides explains:

"Medibank is in the process of an innovative and unique journey from health insurance to health assurance. The success of this journey is in part due to the steady guidance and dedication of key Medibank individuals. Paul's solid credentials in change management will ensure that the transformation continues to build and strengthen the Medibank brand as we take the organisation forward."

Mr Koppelman said that he was looking forward to joining Medibank, particularly given the current solid financial base the organisation operates from:

"Last year Medibank delivered its best financial performance in its 35 year history, which in turn enabled the company to deliver one of its lowest average premium increases in 10 years. I'm looking forward to working with the Medibank team to build on this success so we can continue to offer members and clients the best service possible."
