Medibank serves an ace with Australian Open sponsorship

Medibank is proud to announce its sponsorship of Australian Open 2012, Australia's premier tennis event and the first big Grand Slam in the tennis calendar.

George Savvides, Medibank Managing Director, outlined the three-year agreement and explained that the association enables Medibank to promote its message of encouraging and supporting Australians to lead healthy and active lifestyles.

"At Medibank, our Purpose is For Better Health - better health for our members and better health for all Australians. As part of this, we want to encourage participation in physical activity - particularly tennis - and we have a desire to reach more people with our healthy lifestyle messages.

"This ideal is shared by the Australian Open, which is why Medibank is associated with this fantastic event. We are looking forward to increasing our involvement this summer. Tennis is a sport that is accessible, healthy and social, so it aligns perfectly with Medibank's desire to improve the health and wellbeing of Australians."

As part of the affiliation, Medibank will be hosting a Better Health Day on Tuesday 24 January, where visitors to the Australian Open can find out more about the benefits of healthcare and also about the new healthcare services delivered through Medibank's Health Solutions division. In addition, visitors will be able to indulge in some surprise treats and enter giveaway competitions.

Steve Wood, CEO of Tennis Australia, welcomed Medibank's involvement, saying, "We are proud to have a sponsor on board who is so committed to raising awareness of the values of healthy living, an active lifestyle and wellbeing - values that are important to the Australian Open. We're looking forward to working with Medibank to make 2012 one of our most exciting tournaments yet."

The Australian Open will run from 16-29 January and attracts over 650,000 visitors per year.
