Medibank has achieved Gold Tier Employer status at the 2025 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Awards on Friday night.
The AWEI Awards benchmark LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion nationally and celebrate organisations making meaningful progress towards safe and inclusive environments for all.
Medibank joins a prestigious group of just 28 Australian organisations to receive the accolade this year.
In addition, Medibank's Rainbow Collective Co-Lead Reah Saunders received the Sapphire Inspire Award for their long-standing contribution to inclusion in the workplace, and in particular for under-represented genders.
In their acceptance speech, Reah said: “This recognition belongs to every person in our organisation who has championed inclusion, not just in policy but in practice. We are proud of the progress we’ve made, but we are even more aware of the work that still lies ahead.”
Medibank Group Leads and Co-Chairs of Medibank’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, Rob Deeming and Meaghan Telford, thanked Reah Saunders and Juan Campos, Co-Leads of the Rainbow Collective employee network, for leading this important and deeply valued work.
“To go from Bronze to Gold status in 12 months is an incredible achievement and reflects the hard work and tangible efforts of the Rainbow Collective to connect, uplift, and celebrate our LGBTQ+ and allies community,” Rob said.
“Reah and Juan are brilliant advocates for the advancement of inclusion for LGBTQ+ people at Medibank. Their dedication and passion for this work continue to play an instrumental role in making Medibank an inclusive place for all,” Meaghan said.
Held annually since 2011, the AWEI Awards are a key initiative of Pride in Diversity and are recognised as Australia’s definitive benchmark for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.
