ahm customers to get next wave of COVID customer support

ahm customers will again have another year to use their unclaimed FY22 extras annual limits for a range of health services, in a further give back recognising the impacts of COVID.

The approximately $14 million give back will be automatically applied to eligible customers’ remaining annual limits for services such as dental, physiotherapy and psychology. It will exclude optical and non-annual limits.

Any ahm customer who holds extras cover as at 30 June 2022 will be eligible to receive the rollover.

Group Executive, Customer Portfolios Milosh Milisavljevic said the Medibank Group had continued to monitor claims activity for health services most impacted by COVID restrictions.

“Extras such as dental and remedial massage help customers take proactive steps to support their health and wellbeing. Due to COVID restrictions at the beginning of this year, customers’ ability to access these services, as well as physiotherapy and psychology, have continued to be impacted,” Mr Milisavljevic said.

“We’re always looking for our customers to get the most out of their extras cover and this new rollover helps by giving them more time to use their unclaimed annual limits excluding optical. We want to make it as easy as possible for customers, so the changes will be applied automatically to their cover on July 1, 2022.

We will also confirm the next wave of customer support for Medibank customers and ahm customers with hospital cover by 30 June 2022.

The announcement today further adds to the COVID support package provided to Medibank and ahm customers, which now stands at around $477 million. This includes the current 6-month deferral of premium increases for eligible customers in place until October 2022.

“We said right from the start that we would not profit from COVID. We remain committed to return all permanent net claims savings due to COVID to our Medibank and ahm customers, and this latest wave of support for ahm customers is designed to do exactly that,” Mr Milisavljevic said.

    Further information:
The limit rollover excludes optical where it has a separate annual limit, pre and post-natal services and joint fluid replacement injections with rolling year limits, orthodontics and laser eye surgery with lifetime limits and hearing aids with limits that reset every 3 financial years.

Customers will be able to view any rolled over annual limits online before the end of July 2022.
