Mental health support for customers during this difficult time

    Mental health

Medibank is reminding customers that it has mental health support available for those who may be struggling to cope with the tragic events playing out both here at home and overseas.

The floods in south-east Queensland and New South Wales has impacted tens of thousands of people, who have been forced to evacuate their homes and close businesses.

That’s on top of the distressing and heart-breaking images we are seeing coming out of the war in Ukraine.

Medibank Senior Executive Dr Sue Abhary (medical director) said it’s been a tough couple of years with the COVID pandemic, another flood disaster and now a war, so now is the time to reach out for support if you need it.

“Our focus continues to be on making mental health support simple and easy for all our 3.7 million customers to access, when they need it most,” Dr Abhary said.

“Our heart goes out to everyone who has been impacted by the floods and we are here for our customers with both financial and mental health support.

“We have 24/7 Mental Health Phone Support for customers with hospital cover, which we encourage them to call on 1800 644 325.

“Those with eligible extras cover can claim for counselling and psychology services both face to face and via telehealth.”

Medibank’s Better Minds website and app provides wellbeing checks, self-help skills as well as information and resources connecting those seeking help to support services.

“Let’s all continue to check-in on our family, friends, neighbours and colleagues to see how they are doing,” Dr Abhary said.

“It’s something small we can do to make a big difference in someone’s life, particularly when they are struggling.”
