Medibank employees helping to get the jab done

Medibank is getting behind the nation’s vaccination drive by providing paid community leave and charity gift vouchers to employees having the COVID jab.

The decision to categorise COVID vaccination as community leave reflects the vital role the vaccine plays in preventing serious illness and loss of life from the virus across the country. Combined with giving vaccinated employees vouchers to donate to the charity of their choice, this support for vaccination points to Medibank’s Better Health for Better Lives purpose.

Medibank Group Executive – People & Culture Kylie Bishop said removing any obstacle for people to get vaccinated was a priority.

“Getting vaccinated not only keeps ourselves safe, but the rest of the community too including the most vulnerable,” Ms Bishop said.

As a healthcare company with more than 1,500 health professionals in the team, giving our people time off to get the jab is true to our Better Health for Better Lives purpose.

Medibank is also providing leave to those who have the jab and experience side effects.

“If they feel unwell after the jab then we will cover them either through their sick leave or give them access to the paid COVID-19 leave that we introduced last year.

“As supply of the vaccine increases and more people become eligible, lots of our employees are sharing their #jabdone pictures on our internal communication channels.

“We’re looking forward to seeing more and more of these pictures each day,” Ms Bishop said.
