ADN Access & Inclusion Awards and Disability Confident Recruiter Status

    AND Disability Network

Medibank has been recognised as a Top 5 Performer in the Australian Disability Network’s (ADN) Access and Inclusion Index 2024.

The Access and Inclusion Index is Australia’s leading benchmarking tool for the inclusion of people with disability and helps organisations understand what inclusion should look like, where they are now and build a roadmap for what they need to prioritise in order to keep improving.

The ADN announced the winners of its inaugural Disability Confidence Awards last night, awarding Medibank best in class for Employee Experience, recognising the tangible steps Medibank taking to create an inclusive workplace for more employees with disability to join and grow a career with the company.

In particular, the result also recognises Medibank’s recently achieved Disability Confident Recruiter status (DCR) by the ADN. This rigorous process involved making changes to remove barriers in Medibank’s recruitment process to make it more accessible and inclusive of candidates with disability.

There’s a huge difference between having a diverse workplace and unlocking the potential of one," says Andrew Retschko, Medibank’s Hub Lead for Talent Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion, Sustainability & Community.

Unlocking this value requires taking actions to removing barriers and creating intentional opportunities.

Achieving DCR was a comprehensive process that was the culmination of many meaningful changes throughout our candidate and on-boarding experience including partnering with Inclusive Talent Platforms such as The Field and embedding flexibility into the interview process,” says Andrew.

“It was a huge amount of work, with contributions right across our business, and the outcome is worth the effort. Different abilities and perspectives are critical to our business objectives and we are excited about the possibilities that welcoming more people with disability to Medibank is starting to unlock.”
