Medibank announces febfast sponsorship to complement generation better

Medibank has announced its major sponsorship of FebFast 2014 - Australia's annual 28-day break from unhealthy habits which also raises funds for charity.

The preventative health campaign straight after the Christmas & Summer holidays is just the tonic to kick start the year ahead, and Medibank Executive General Manager - Private Health Insurance Laz Cotsios agrees that it is an ideal time to take some small but deliberate steps towards better health.

"FebFast, which has now expanded to include a range of 'fasts' such as sugar, caffeine, digital devices as well as alcohol, is a perfeclt fit with Medibank's Generation Better initiative, designed to encourage Australians to lead healthier lives by taking small steps to better health," Mr Cotsios said.

"FebFast is about accountability, action, and celebrating small victories. Being mindful of how we incorporate healthy eating or health activities into our days is something we are committed to and using the FebFast campaign to start the ball rolling will hopefully lead to a longer term focus on our health.

"It also creates a talking point during February so you can share your efforts and achievements with friends. Supporting each other to attain our health goals makes success more achievable and certainly more fun, so we encourage all Australians to share their stories through #GenBetter," Mr Cotsios said.

FebFast has to date raised $5.6 million for youth addiction.
