Half a million Aussies choose to Live Better

Medibank’s health and wellbeing program, Live Better, has celebrated its 500,000th member and has shared how Australians are easing cost of living pressures by doing everyday activities like walking, meditating and eating healthy.

Medibank’s Live Better program helps members track and measure everyday activities, rewarding them with Live Better Points for making small healthy changes to their lifestyle. They are then able to redeem those points for a number of items such as Amcal, adidas and Brooks e-Gift cards, as well as Apple products.

Medibank Group Executive, Milosh Milisavljevic, said Australians are increasingly focused on their health and wellbeing, and the Live Better program helps people track their activity and rewards them with points when they meet their targets.

We’ve just celebrated our 500,000th Live Better member since launching in 2019, which we believe makes us the fastest-growing health and wellbeing program in Australia.

"Since then, our members have redeemed more than 140,000 rewards, completed more than four million challenges and goals, and taken an incredible 380 billion steps, which is about 7,200 laps of the earth. The best part is that they’ve invested in their health and wellbeing to do exactly what the program’s name suggests.

“By making small changes to their everyday activities, our members are earning thousands of points each month, which they can then redeem as vouchers for adidas, Amcal chemists and Hello Fresh, or purchase Apple products like AirPods. They can also choose to reduce their out-of-pocket costs when they go for a dental check-up, get their eyes checked or even reduce their annual premium by $200.

“We also reward members for preventative health activities like getting a COVID vaccination, blood pressure and skin checks, as well as dental check-ups. Being fully vaccinated against COVID earns members 1,000 points.

“With interest rates continuing to rise and cost of living increasing, people are finding new ways to keep on top of their budget.

“The most popular way members are earning points is through the weekly step challenge. Those who walk 7,000 steps every day earn 200 points a week. Most people would walk at least 7,000 steps each day, so they are really earning points for doing something they already do.

“Our 2030 vision is to create the best health and wellbeing for Australia, and the Live Better program helps people achieve their health and wellbeing goals.” Medibank Live Better member Bekki Fisher said the Live Better app had been lifechanging for her.

“The Live Better app has changed everything for me. The year 2020 was tough for everyone; and it was the year I decided to invest in my health and overall wellbeing. The app came free with my Medibank health insurance and at first all I wanted to do was track exercise and set goals but then I found that I could add challenges, earn points, and turn those points into gift cards.

Medibank Live Better member Bekki Fisher said the Live Better app had been lifechanging for her.

“I tracked every single stretch, sleep, snack, and step. My first 10,000 Live Better Points turned into new activewear by redeeming my points for an adidas e-gift card. Every time I wanted to give up, a reminder on my phone to track my movement kept me going.

I turned 7,000 daily steps, seven hours of sleep a night and one minute of daily deep breathing into five pairs of Adidas sneakers. I’ve lost 30kgs and never felt better.

Anyone aged at least 18 years old who has a valid residential Australian address can register for a Live Better account and start earning points – you don’t have to be a Medibank customer.
