Amplar Home Health accredited for another three years

Announced today, Amplar Home Health, one of the country’s largest in-home care providers has successfully achieved reaccreditation against the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards for another three years.

Dr Janette Randall, Amplar Health Chief Medical Officer said reaccreditation is another significant milestone for Amplar Home Health, after its recent brand change from HSS. “The auditors provided positive feedback on the quality and safety of our service, our patient centred approach and our commitment to continuous improvement. They were struck by the acute nature of the care provided, the volume of services delivered each year and the geographical reach of our programs.” Dr Randall added, “Unsurprisingly, the most positive feedback was in relation to our people –the respectful and compassionate care they deliver.”

Amplar Home Health is one of the largest in-home care providers in Australia, having delivered more than 145,000 visits in the home in FY23. Headquartered in Adelaide but providing care around Australia, Amplar Home Health employs more than 180 nurses and partners with a large network of contracted providers to ensure geographical coverage to over 97% of the population*.

In an indication of growth and service improvements, Amplar Home Health last month employed an additional 20 nurses in a major national recruitment drive and it recently re-signed a contract with SA Health to deliver its South Australian Community Care program. Amplar Home Health has also commenced discussions with local Aboriginal Health Services to look at how they can better partner and develop referral pathways to support more Aboriginal people in its programs.

CEO of Amplar Health, Dr Andrew Wilson said, “We have been providing care to patients in their home since 1989. This is a very positive accreditation result, testament to the multidisciplinary team who work collaboratively with referrers, healthcare professionals and consumers to deliver much needed care for all of our patients.”

*As at June 2023. Calculated based on population of 23,345,326 and Amplar Home Health’s network of staff, agency and brokered providers able to deliver in-home care across any service type (clinical and non-clinical).

Amplar Home Health provides a full range of nursing, allied health and wrap around support services such as personal and domestic care to support patients with their recovery. Through its hospital in the home programs it delivers intravenous antibiotic therapy, complex wound care, medication management and general nursing support to ensure a safe recovery. Its rehabilitation programs help people recover and improve their function following surgery or other medical events. A range of allied health providers are able to visit patients at home to improve strength and mobility, reduce falls, improve independence with day-to-day activities and address nutritional and communication deficits. Amplar Home Health was first assessed against the NSQHS Standards in February 2020. Accreditation is an independent recognition that a health service meets the standard of quality and safety expected by funders, referrers, partners and consumers. As the Standards have continued to evolve, Amplar Home Health has also grown and further matured in its approach to clinical governance, partnering with consumers and delivering consistently reliable health services.
