New private maternity program for Northern Territory customers

Medibank today announced a new private maternity program for eligible customers in the Northern Territory following the closure of the Territory’s only private maternity service.
Medibank continues to work with the Northern Territory Government on solutions for customers, including private maternity options at Mercure Darwin Airport Resort and at home services.
Medibank and ahm customers who are booked to have their baby at Darwin Private Hospital after the maternity service closes next month will be able to access these new private maternity services.
“While it’s disappointing to see the Darwin Private Hospital’s maternity service close due to low birth numbers, we’re pleased to be working with the Northern Territory Government on solutions for our customers.
“I want to assure our customers in the Northern Territory that you will be able to continue to access private services, whether it be staying at a hotel with round-the-clock access to private midwives, going home after the birth and having private services come to you or remaining in hospital under the care of the Royal Darwin team.
“We will be contacting all customers who are booked to have their baby at Darwin Private Hospital to talk about the options available to them.”
