New-look store part of medibank private's wa growth strategy

Medibank Private has revealed another part of its plan to win market share in Western Australia.

Australia's largest private health fund has opened its innovative new-look retail centre in St Georges Terrace, Perth.

Medibank Private Managing Director, George Savvides said the new retail centre offers customers enhanced service options in a fresh and consultative environment.

"As well as a fresh new look, the store offers a number of new features to better serve our members," Mr Savvides said.

"The new store gives members greater privacy when discussing sensitive health matters, as well as access to consumer health information, the Medibank Private website and call centre."

Mr Savvides said that Medibank Private was determined to improve its market position in Western Australia.

"While we are Australia's largest health fund nationally, it's a different story here in Western Australia, where HBF dominates the landscape with about 70% of the market," Mr Savvides said.

"We are very keen to grow our WA market share. And while it seems a little like a 'David and Goliath' battle, we have a number of advantages to offer.

"Despite cost pressures in the health system, we have managed to keep our premium increases equal to or below those of our major competitors.

"Our members can enjoy automated, on-the-spot ancillary claiming through the HICAPS system.

"And in addition to their progressive refurbishment, our major Perth retail centres also offer the convenience of Saturday trading."
