Medibank supporting knees, hips (and hip pockets) in Albury Wodonga

    • Insight Private Hospital in Albury joins Medibank’s no gap joint replacement program
    • Customers to save on average $1,500 in out-of-pocket fees
    • Data shows higher rate of arthritis in Albury Wodonga (10.2%) compared to national average (8.5%)[1]

With arthritis impacting residents in Albury Wodonga at a higher rate than the national average, Medibank is working to support health outcomes and choice for customers living with the condition.

Medibank customers living in the border towns of Albury and Wodonga now have convenient access to its no gap joint replacement program, with Insight Private Hospital one of the latest hospitals to join the program.

Designed to eliminate out-of-pocket medical costs associated with a hip or knee replacement, Medibank Chief Customer Officer Milosh Milisavljevic, said the health company is looking at ways to provide customers more choice, value and control in their health.

“We know that every dollar counts at the moment. The no gap joint replacement program has saved our customers an average of $1,500 in out-of-pocket costs, which is a big saving at a time when household budgets are under pressure,” he said.

“The program also gives our customers’ choice around how their care is delivered, including the option to get back home sooner. This is not at the expense of their care, with customers having the support of nurses, allied health practitioners and personal carers as needed through their rehabilitation.”

Insight Private Hospital Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr George Gayagay said: “It’s fantastic that Insight hospital in Albury is one of very few regional cities in Australia that offer this model of care. What major cities in Australia and the world can do, we too can do.

“The No Gap program benefits both patient and surgeon. It lets the patient focus on their post-surgery recovery, with rehab done in the comfort of their own homes, without having to worry about any surprise costs afterwards. It also allows surgeons to focus all their attention into providing the best care for their patients, knowing that they are fully supported by Medibank.”
