Mandurah residents are invited to take advantage of a free health and wellbeing fair hosted by Medibank Private at Centro Mandurah Shopping Centre this week.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of free health screenings conducted by registered health professionals including blood pressure and cholesterol checks, nutrition advice and relaxing massages.
The health fair celebrates the recent opening of Medibank's newest retail centre at Centro Mandurah. While the store commenced trading on June 14, the grand opening festivities have only just begun, and will climax with this week's event, which will also feature giveaways and competitions.
Medibank Private General Manager for Western Australia, Bob Payne, said "Medibank is not just another health insurer. We are increasingly helping members take a much more active role in managing their own health.
"We know that many people may not be living as healthy a life as they could be, and a good way to prevent sickness is to promote health. For those who want to know more about their own health status, attending the health fair is a great starting point.
"The health fair offers free access to health professionals who can give advice on helpful lifestyle changes and identifying health goals. Visitors can also learn how Medibank's diabetes, chronic disease, and on-line health management programs can help them take better care of their health.
"The new retail centre is also a big part of this. We are confident that our Mandurah members will appreciate the new location and I know that the great local team lead by Sheila McCully is looking forward to helping everyone with their health insurance needs," he said.
Mr Payne pointed out that the new retail centre is a further sign of Medibank Private's commitment to Mandurah and the Peel region, following a grant of $27,000 from Medibank to fund a safety and clinical improvement program at Peel Private Hospital in 2006.
"The Peel region is Western Australia's fastest growing region, so it makes sense that Medibank Private, Western Australia's fastest growing health fund, should want to increase our presence in the area," he said.
The existing Medibank Private agency in Peel Pharmacy on Sholl Street will continue to operate during and after the new retail centre opening.
