Y is for yoga

Originating in India over 5000 years ago, yoga is now commonplace in western society.

Designed to improve physical and mental wellbeing, the many types of yoga available are forms of exercise focusing on strength, flexibility and breathing. Yoga essentially involves a series of movements, positions, postures and breathing exercises to improve strength and flexibility.

People of all ages and physical fitness can get involved in yoga practice. Yoga can also play a role in helping to maintain mental wellness, and some studies have identified that yoga could be beneficial for people suffering from high blood pressure and stress.

Yoga can be practised indoors or outdoors and is a great exercise option for the cold winter months. With yoga classes catering to a wide range of abilities available pretty much anywhere, there is no excuse not to get involved!
