From beach trips to mountain hikes and even rainforest experiences – there’s something for everyone.

We’ve compiled a list of adventures that has something for everyone no matter your budget or time restraints

If you’re on a budget

The best way to see Australia if you’re on a budget is to hire a car and hit the road. Australia is the perfect place for a road trip and you can find relatively inexpensive car hire if you shop around.

Hit the Great Ocean Road for a one of the most iconic experiences the country has to offer. Starting in Melbourne this route offers sweeping beach-scapes and seaside towns that haven’t fallen victim to their popularity. The Great Ocean Road is also home to the magnificent 12 apostles – massive limestone structures that leave visitors awestruck.

If you’re looking for something a little further off the beaten track why not try driving the coral coast that runs from Perth to Exmouth. With red soil and turquoise seas, this trip is a photographers dream. Swim with whale sharks, discover secret beaches and explore tiny towns – just give yourself at least ten days to do it all.

If you’re looking to save money on accommodation, hiring a campervan can greatly reduce your costs. Most campervan parks charge a small cover fee that is much more cost effective than paying for a hostel.

If you’ve only got your weekends

If you’ve only got a couple of days to get away, why not get yourself down to a vineyard. In particular, the Adelaide Hills wine region is South Australia’s oldest wine region and provides some of the most delicious cellar door experiences in the country. With excellent tasting options and boutique accommodation, this is the perfect weekend getaway.

If wine isn’t your thing, why not head to Byron Bay for a chilled weekend filled with beautiful beaches, eclectic shops and top notch cuisine.

If you’re looking for luxury

Australia is jam packed with luxury experiences, but if you’re looking for something a little different, why not hop aboard the Ghan train. Regarded as one of the world’s greatest rail journeys, the Ghan takes you deep into the heart of Australia with a range of destinations to choose from.

Private cabins offer maximum comfort and privacy whilst gourmet meals and unlimited are included in the price of your ticket. The Ghan winds its way through the southern Australian hills and plains to the tropical greens of top ends . With opportunities to explore famous outback towns like Alice Springs and Katherine, it’s a must-do to add to your list.

If you want an adventure for the whole family

If you’ve got little ones to entertain, heading to north Queensland could be the answer, with plenty of options for the whole family. Take a boat trip from Cairns or Port Douglas and explore the Great Barrier Reef. Older kids will love snorkelling through the brightly coloured reef, whilst younger kids might enjoy a glass bottom boat ride.

From Port Douglas, the Daintree rainforest offers great options for hiking or horse riding along the neighbouring beaches. Meanwhile resorts in the area are well equipped for family activities with many offering water sports, kid-friendly activities and water slides.

There’s plenty to do in Australia, so make sure you get out there and explore. Remember, if you’re a Medibank member you could enjoy 15% off Travel Insurance, which includes domestic cover so you can relax and enjoy your trip.
