Distance: Range of junior, enticer, sprint and Olympic courses

With the full suite of triathlon distances on offer at Elite Energy’s Nowra triathlon, there’s an event for everyone. Set on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, the course at Nowra has been described as fast and flat with competitors biking over flat terrain and returning to run over Nowra’s famous bridge.

Distance: 750m swim/20km cycle/5km run

Running six races through summer up until April 2013, the SuperSprint series caters for beginners to Olympians and aims to develop endurance by gradually increasing race distances across the season. Race 3 at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham kicks off at 7.15am and consists of a 750m swim/20km cycle/5km run in both individual and team format.

Distance: Range of junior, QTS and enticer courses

With three triathlon distances to choose from, the Gatorade Queensland Tri Series event in Caloundra is a fun, enjoyable event with a great, supportive crew on hand to help participants on their big day. The event finishes with food, refreshments and massages for competitors and plenty of hang out spots for participants to share race stories and event experiences.

Distance: 600m swim/20km cycle/5km run with a shorter option

Darwin Triathlon Club events are open to club members and are run year-round. With a huge range of events from off-road triathlons, aquathlons, splash n dash, endurance events and team events, club membership is certainly worthwhile if you’re keen to spread your wings in the world of triathlons. Held at Robertson Barracks, an Australian Army base in outer Darwin, this sprint event is the first race of the club’s sprint series and kicks off at 7am.

Distance: Two triathlon distances – pursuit and enticer, and an aquathlon

45 minutes from Perth, Rockingham triathlon is a family friendly event and is the fourth race of the 2012/3 Telstra Triathlon Series. The pursuit distance is staged over a typical sprint distance and the shorter enticer distance is designed to be achievable by everyone.

Distance: Range of mini, tinman and challenge events being run

With an emphasis on fun and fairness in a safe environment, the Gatti Sports triathlon in Westlakes offers both individual and team participation options across three distances. With post race refreshments, awards for all distances, categories and age groups as well as random prize draws it offers a great introduction to triathlons and a supportive event to improve your race experience and times.

Distance: Two junior ‘trystars’ events and an open event

Race two of the Tasmanian Triathlon Series, the Latrobe triathlon takes place on Australia Day. The event will consist of two races specifically for children, the first for children aged between 7 and 10 years and the second for children aged between 11 and 13 years. A third event, open for competitors aged 14 years and above, will also run and will be a selection race for the Tasmanian Junior Triathlon Team. The triathlon event is part of the Henley-on-Mersey celebrations, a popular annual Latrobe festival marking Australia Day.
