Extras cover is great to have when you’ve pulled a muscle, need a filling or rolled an ankle. But you don't have to wait until something goes wrong to use it.

Here are a few tips for getting the best value from your extras cover.

New year, new limits

For most extras services, annual limits reset on 1 January. Unused annual limits don’t carry over, so if you have a need for particular services, don’t hold off on booking an appointment. 

You can check what’s included in your extras cover and your annual limits using the My Medibank app.

Get 100% back on your annual dental check-up and clean

Need something to smile about? Members with extras cover on eligible products can claim 100% back on up to 2 dental check-ups at a Members Choice Advantage dentist each calendar year (including up to two bitewing x-rays per check-up where required). A 2 month waiting period applies.

Get a new pair of prescription glasses

Everyone deserves to see the world clearly. That’s why when you join Medibank extras you get 100% back on optical items at all recognised providers, up to annual limits. Just remember that a 6-month waiting period applies before you can claim on optical services, and some lens coatings are excluded.

Use Members’ Choice providers

When you use our Members’ Choice providers, you’ll generally pay less in out-of-pockets costs than you would if you used a provider outside our network, as we’ve negotiated the maximum amount you can be charged for their services.*

Make sure you have the right cover

An important step to getting the most out of your extras is making sure you have the right cover for your health needs . If your health needs are changing, or you find you are quickly using up your annual limits, it may be time to consider a different level of cover to better suit your needs.
