    Cadel’s last ride

Congratulations to cycling champ and Medibank #Genbetter ambassador Cadel Evans on his last pro ride!

In one of the greatest races Australia has ever seen, Cadel Evans rode professionally for the last time this weekend.

The cycling legend took his final spin in the inaugural race named in his honour, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

This is first event of its kind in Australia, inspired by the prestigious Spring Classics of Europe. Over 174 km starting and finishing in Geelong, the elite one-day race follows an undulating course along Victoria’s most majestic coastline, making it both an intense challenge and a visual spectacle.

Thousands flocked to Geelong to watch and take part in the public People’s Ride on Saturday 31 Jan, followed by the Elite Women’s later that morning and the Elite Men’s event on Sunday 1 Feb.

Topping off a sterling pro career with a flourish, Cadel finished fifth in the race, while Beligan cyclist Gianni Meersman took home the title.

Congrats to Cadel and to all the competitors and spectators who made the event so amazingly memorable.
