How food blogger Jessica Sepel keeps her kitchen fresh, light and delicious

Warmer weather brings with it a craving for fresh, nourishing wholefoods – and nutritionist and health blogger Jessica Sepel’s tasty creations are right on the mark. Jessica’s new book, The Healthy Life, is brimming with inspiring recipe ideas, along with wellbeing insights following her own food journey.

We took a few moments to chat with Jessica about all things fresh and healthy for spring.

Describe spring on a plate…

Biggest inspiration for The Healthy Life?  

My own personal journey of healing my relationship with my own body and my previously very complex relationship with food. Writing this book was my therapy, and I feel so blessed to be able to share everything I’ve learnt.

One recipe in your book everyone needs to try?

I would say the banana bread served warm with ricotta or coconut yoghurt – it’s just a must!

What is your perfect weekend breakfast?

Definitely my gluten-free almond meal banana pancakes, served with a dollop of Greek yoghurt

Favourite snack if you’re craving something sweet? 

A tahini bliss ball! Tahini (ground sesame seeds) is so delicious and full of nourishing, healthy fats which keep me feeling satiated. I make them with a little vanilla stevia and some cinnamon to add a touch of sweetness.

Your wellbeing mantra…

“I listen to my body, and give it what it needs.”

There are so many conflicting pieces of nutrition, health and fitness advice out there, but I think it’s important that we reconnect with what our bodies are telling us. Getting inspiration and motivation from others is fine, but what it all comes down to is tuning in and listening to what your own body is asking for.
