Three 24-year-olds have taken on the Western Australia Series for the Chevron City to Surf challenge and smashed it out of the park. With the gruelling series made up of four 12 km running events held across the state and culminating with a marathon in Perth, Matt McGillivray, Alister Martin and Jordon Maxwell hit the road, trained hard together, fuelled up and achieved their inspiring goals.
Spurred on to take part in the series by a recent family tragedy, Matt used the events to take an active fight against illness and his friends supported him along the way.
“Less than a year ago my father passed away from bowel cancer at only 50 years of age. He was an active and healthy man at the time, and the illness came as a shock to the family. I’ve had to accept the reality that you cannot take your health for granted, and that has been the motivation for our journey,” he said.
Medibank came on board to support the road trip trio throughout their training and at the series events held in Karratha, Geraldton, Albany, Busselton and, lastly, Perth. Armed with cameras to document their journey, Matt, Alistair and Jordan captured their quest for better health and Medibank was at the finish line to record the final metres of their inspirational effort.
Congratulations Matt, Alister and Jordan!
