Ice skating, ice hockey and tubing are all on the cards with a trip to the Medibank Icehouse

Written by Medibank

You don’t need to drive hours to the mountains for a taste of the ice this winter, head to the Medibank Icehouse at Melbourne’s Docklands for some adventures on the blades.

The Icehouse has a weekly schedule of events to suit all ages including ‘Skate Date Night’ on Thursdays, ‘Hot 40 Countdown’ to kick off the weekend on Fridays and ‘Ice Disco Fever’ to get you grooving on a Saturday.

Between 8 and 9am on Sundays, children under eight are welcome on the ice for an introduction to ice skating. FUNtastic Ice Ambassadors will be there to engage your child and toys, games and music are all part of the fun. Parents can also join in on the ice or spend some time with the little ones in the snow play area.

During the July school holidays a Winter Skate Festival is held to keep children occupied and active over the break. On and off ice activities are available and the Icehouse has a range of Skate Aids to familiarise children with the ice before they get started on skates.

Ice hockey fans can get their spectating fix with regular matches played at the Icehouse during the season, running from April to 1 September. The Icehouse is home to two of the nine Australian Ice Hockey League teams – Medibank Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs. Head on down for some ‘Mighty Ducks’ flashbacks!
