Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race

Embrace a passionate, two-day cycling course along Victoria's scenic coastline.

There’s so much to love about cycling – and what better way to experience it than on along a beautiful coastline, with a vibrant crowd of riders, fans, families and world class cyclists, all coming together for an active weekend outdoors.

The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race is a weekend packed full of cycling excitement, held in Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast. There are three key events – the Elite Women’s Road Race, the Elite Men’s Road Race, and the People’s Ride, where the cycling public has an unprecedented chance to tackle the course themselves.

The race is the first of its kind in Australia, inspired by the prestigious Spring Classics of Europe. Over 174 km starting and finishing in Geelong, the race follows an undulating course along Victoria’s most majestic coastline, making it both an intense challenge and a visual spectacle.

“Starting and finishing in Geelong, the race follows an undulating course along Victoria’s most majestic coastline.”

The course starts on Geelong’s waterfront and winds through Cadel Evans’s hometown of Barwon Heads, Thirteenth Beach, Torquay, Bells Beach and Moriac – a few of the Tour de France legend and Medibank ambassador’s favourite riding spots.

Some of the world’s best cycling teams are heading down for the event, including Cadel’s former team BMC Racing, Orica GreenEDGE, and Team Katusha.

And of course, Cadel himself will be there too. Having officially retired from competitive cycling last year, following the inaugural Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, this time Cadel will join cycling enthusiasts in the People’s Ride.

The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race runs over 30-31 January 2016.
