9 healthy party snack ideas

Forget sausage rolls – your guests will love you for dishing up these healthy party treats instead

1. Rice paper rolls

Refreshingly light and easier to make than you might think, rice paper rolls are the perfect party food.

2. Grilled zucchini roll-ups

For a delicious morsel, grill some slices of zucchini and roll them up with your choice of fillings – avocado and feta make a tasty combination, as do roasted peppers, goat’s cheese and capers.

3. Cherry tomato stacks

Like a caprese salad on a stick, these little tomato stacks couldn’t be easier to whip up. Just slice up some cherry tomatoes (including yellow and orange ones if you can for a pretty effect), stack them on a toothpick with some mozzarella cheese, and sprinkle with fresh basil.

4. Fruit skewers

Sweet, tasty colourful – bring a tropical flair to your festivities with fruit skewers. Just chop up your favourite fresh, seasonal fruits and stack them on a stick, then serve with some natural yogurt for dipping.

5. Sushi

Light but filling, sushi is an easy way to bring a touch of sophistication to any gathering. Plus it’s fun to make – experiment with a range of healthy fillings like salmon, avocado and lots of fresh veggies.

6. Berry parfaits

To satisfy sweet tooths, layer berries, granola and natural yogurt in a glass or jar for an easy (but oh-so-impressive) party treat.

7. Bruschetta

Take a small slice of crusty toasted bread, brush it with olive oil, and top with a fragrant mix of tomatoes, garlic, balsamic vinegar and basil. Simple and delicious.

8. Savoury muffins

For a filling and yummy treat, make your own savoury muffins using healthy ingredients like coconut or macadamia oil and lots of fragrant herbs. Spinach, feta, sun-dried tomatoes and roasted capsicum all make great fillings.

9. Homemade pastries

If you have a little more time up your sleeve, making your own pastries is a great way to satisfy your guests without all the extra saturated fat that comes along with packaged party treats.
