The Intolerant Cooks

Food sensitivities or intolerances? There’s a new cooking show just for you

Up to 40% of Australians experience a food sensitivity or intolerance of some kind. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a rich array of gorgeous, interesting foods. It just means getting a little adventurous.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, meet The Intolerant Cooks. Unique foodie duo Tracy Bartram and Richard Barassi believe that eating well with food intolerances is not about what you can’t eat – it’s about focusing on what you can eat.

This new cooking show follows Tracy and Richard on their adventures across Victoria, foraging for the finest and most lovingly produced regional ingredients.

Along the way, they meet colourful characters and learn about fresh supplies and cooking ideas. And of course, they share delicious recipes and creative tips for shopping and cooking for the food sensitive.

Virtually my whole life has been surrounded by food, from my grandmother, my mother and through my working life,” Richard says. “Finding out that I had to eliminate entire food groups started this incredible journey.

“The combination of humour, a road less travelled and some amazing food stories together with a chance to share recipes with people other than your own friends makes The Intolerant Cooks an absolute delight to work on. Real stories and real food, what a great combination.”

Each week Tracy and Richard meet an inspiring range of farmers and producers, from the orchards of the Yarra Valley, to olive plantations in Woodend, wineries and rhubarb farms in Nagambie, to organic vegetable producers along the Peninsula.

“I’ve had digestive issues my entire life and have really suffered,” Tracy says. “Part of my life’s work has been to examine ways I can eat well and improve my gut integrity, my own self-care and wellness.

“The Intolerant Cooks is a brilliant opportunity to share that passion and knowledge with the wider community, whilst having a lot of fun doing it! Plus, Richard Barassi is like the mischievous brother I never had.”

The Intolerant Cooks airs on Channel 7Two from 4 July 2015. Find out more at intolerantcooks.com.au
