V is for veggie patch
Where would your winter heart be without the veggie patch?
It’s a place to clear your mind and fill your belly, and despite the season, the veggie patch is a productive place in the colder months.
Over winter, your mentality as a gardener shifts with the seasons; rather than a very hands-on summer approach - dirty fingernails, vitamin D and drink in hand as you water the patch - the winter garden is best observed at a distance and the low maintenance approach is best.
Rather then having to trudge out into the patch and go to work (dry socks and underpants are an important component of an enjoyable winter) winter is the season to call on the easygoing, perennial performers.
This winter, surround yourself with lots of leafy greens and an abundance of herbs that will give you the opportunity to pick on a near-daily basis and keep meal times interesting.
