National Walk to Work Day

Breathe in the fresh air and get your blood pumping in a more active kind of commute to work.

National Walk to Work Day encourages you to incorporate more walking into your daily routine – and one excellent way to do that is to walk part or all of the way to work. If you can’t walk all the way, use public transport and get off a few stops earlier (or if you need to drive, park a kilometre or more away from your destination) and get your legs moving for the rest. Some other easy ideas for being more active at work are taking a half-hour walk at lunchtime, using the stairs instead of the lift whenever you can, and getting up from your desk to walk around at least once an hour.

Walk to Work Day also raises money for Diabetes Australia – so there are even more reasons to get your workplace involved.
