Moderate your drinking online

A handy web app designed by psychologists to help you to monitor and reduce your alcohol intake.

It’s easy to get in the pattern of drinking too much, too frequently. If you think you might benefit from cutting back on your alcohol intake, but don’t necessarily feel you have an addiction, self-moderation can be an effective way to recognise your drinking habits and set limits for yourself.

moderatedrinking.com is an evidence-based web application created by US clinical psychologists and alcohol abuse researchers. While not the flashiest-looking website, its effectiveness has been demonstrated in a clinical trial that showed an average decrease in drinking of about 50 per cent within a year.

The app allows you to record your drinking, determine your maximum blood alcohol levels and set goals – both for the maximum number of drinks you want to consume each day, and limits for special occasions.
