Share stories and lifestyles of the desert at Central Australia’s premier annual arts festival.

Bringing together a vibrant program of arts and performance events for all ages, the Alice Desert Festival celebrates the exchange between cultures in the heart of Australia. From music, dance and theatre to circus, film, cabaret and more, there’s something for everyone at this unique five-day festival in the beautiful surrounds of Alice Springs.

Soak up acts as diverse as Ninja Circus, a dynamic Indigenous youth circus troupe (pictured above); Die Roten Punkte, an internationally renowned pop-music comedy duo; Swamp Juice, an shadow puppet performance like no other; and Desert Burlesque Royal, a cabaret show incorporating contemporary dance, spoken word, circus, comedy and plenty of feathers.

Be entertained by street theatre at the night markets, enjoy an open-air screening of Red Dog by the river, and don’t miss the 24 Hour Dance Marathon challenge for a really unforgettable experience.

Alice Desert Festival Kids Day

The Alice Desert Festival is a family-friendly event, and you can rest assured there is plenty of keep the kids entertained. The Medibank Community Fund is proud to support the special Kids Day program on Sunday 14 September, with a range of engaging events for the little ones including workshops on growing food and saving the planet, as well as interactive musical performances, obstacle courses, reptile shows and plenty of fresh, nutritious food.
