Two important changes to processing Medibank Claims via your HICAPs Terminal
Medibank has introduced two improvements for their members* who utilise HICAPs terminals.
1) Medibank has advised HICAPs that from 4 January 2010 their members* will be able to claim their PackageBonus via HICAPs.
How do I process a Medibank PackageBonus transaction?
You simply process the claim transaction in the normal way.
For Medibank members on an eligible cover the terminal will prompt you to ask the member to select YES or NO to applying their PackageBonus to this claim.
If the patient selects YES a second transaction is sent to Medibank for approval. Once the transaction is authorised the screen displays APPROVED. The terminal then prints a transaction receipt for the patient to sign (you retain this for your records) and a duplicate copy for the patient.
Please note: The patient cannot nominate how much of their PackageBonus they want to use. All available PackageBonus funds will be accessed up to the amount outstanding on the transaction.
Do not select YES if attempting to provide a quote to the member as the transaction cannot be cancelled via HICAPs. Once the PackageBonus has been claimed the transaction cannot be cancelled via the HICAPs terminal.
2) Based on your feedback, Medibank has increased the number of lines that can be entered into a HICAPs terminal. From February 9th 2010, Providers can enter up to 16 lines rather than only 9.
