Hospital
What's covered?
We cover the following included services:
- Injuries sustained in an accident
- Knee reconstruction surgery and investigations
- Shoulder reconstruction surgery and investigations
- Appendicitis treatment
- Removal of tonsils and adenoids
- Surgical extraction of wisdom teeth.
For these included services, we pay benefits towards:
- Private hospital accommodation
- - Overnight accommodation in a private or shared room
- - Same day admissions
- - Intensive care
- - Theatre fees
- Public hospital accommodation as a private patient
- - Overnight accommodation in a private or shared room
- - Same day admissions (shared room only)
- Surgically implanted prostheses and other items on the Federal Government's Prostheses Schedule
What's restricted?
We cover the following restricted services but pay lower benefits towards them in a private hospital.
- Palliative care
- Psychiatric treatment
- Rehabilitation treatment.
What's not covered?
We don’t pay benefits for services which are not listed above as included or restricted.
Hospital procedures not recognised for Medicare benefit purposes, such as elective cosmetic surgery.
Limited hospital benefits apply to podiatric surgery (performed by an accredited podiatrist) and dental procedures that are performed in a non-Members’ Choice private hospital.

MyOptions includes Flexi-Extras and Flexi-Bonus. Flexi-Extras allows you to claim over and above the core extras services. The Flexi-Bonus is a yearly amount you can use to top up your benefits on any of the extras services available, as well as for specified natural therapy consultations.
