PackageBonus: Your Reward for Being a PackagePlus Member

The PackageBonus is an amount of money that helps you pay for a range of approved membership and health-related expenses. It accumulates each year, up to your membership limit, and it’s your reward for being a Member of the following packaged covers; HealthyPlus, SmartPlus, AdvantagePlus and PremierPlus.

How does your PackageBonus work?

You earn it...

  • When you take out an applicable packaged cover, you get a PackageBonus - $50 for single and $100 for couple or family memberships.
  • Each following year, on 1 January, you will automatically receive your annual PackageBonus, provided you continuously maintain an applicable packaged cover. This amount is $100 for single and $200 for couple or family memberships.

You can spend it...

  • You can only use your PackageBonus after you have held your cover for six months.
  • You can only use your PackageBonus for approved membership or health related expenses. View some of those expenses.
  • You can only claim amounts up to your individual limits. Find out more about individual member limits.

You can save it...

  • You can save your PackageBonus as any amount not used in the calendar year is rolled over into the following year's entitlement. You can continue saving it until you reach the maximum membership limit of $500 for single and $1,000 for couple or family memberships.
  • As long as you maintain an applicable packaged cover, you will not lose any saved PackageBonus.

The individual member limits - PackageBonus limits

It's important to understand how the individual member limits work as these limits affect how much PackageBonus each member can claim. Once you have used your individual member limit, you cannot use the PackageBonus of another member on your cover. Also, you cannot transfer the PackageBonus between members. If you are unsure of the individual member limits that apply to you, please contact us before you incur the expense.

Single Memberships
You can use all your available PackageBonus.

Couple Memberships
For each year's PackageBonus of $200, up to $100 can be used by you and up to $100 can be used by your spouse or partner. You can save your PackageBonus up to a maximum amount of $500 per person. You can use up to the amount you have saved, but you can’t use the amount saved by your spouse or partner. Please call if you want to discuss.

Family Memberships
You can decide how much of your annual $200 PackageBonus is used by each individual on your cover. However, there is an individual member limit of $100, so only up to half of your cover's annual PackageBonus can be used by any one member on your membership.

The same applies if you save your PackageBonus. For example, if you save all of your membership's PackageBonus until you reach the maximum membership limit of $1,000, only up to half of this ($500) can be used by any one member on your membership.

This means if there are three or more members on a membership it is not possible for every member to claim the full individual member limit within the same calendar year.
