If you choose one of our packaged covers you'll be rewarded with a bonus each year. Under SmartPlus and AdvantagePlus, your PackageBonus can help pay for a range of approved Membership and health related expenses. Choice of doctor and hospital

With hospital cover, you have greater control over who treats you, where you are treated and how soon. You can choose your own doctor as well as which hospital you'd prefer to attend.

With extras cover, we can help you with the costs of services like dental treatment, physiotherapy and optical items.

Medically Necessary Ambulance Transport

Benefits for Medically Necessary Ambulance Transport are included in all packaged covers, except where there is an entitlement to benefits under third party arrangements such as State Government ambulance transport schemes or ambulance subscription services.

Ways to get more from your packaged cover

Members' Choice Hospitals

If you need to go to hospital it makes sense to choose one from our Members' Choice Network. We've negotiated agreements with the majority of private hospitals across Australia. At a Members' Choice Hospital, you can take advantage of:

  • the capped fees we've negotiated
  • convenient billing for the payment of Benefits, with your invoice sent directly to Medibank Private
  • information on any out-of-pocket expenses prior to admission, where possible
  • pre-admission advice, for planned treatment, to help you understand what to expect from your stay in hospital
  • discharge planning advice, which covers medication instructions and scheduled follow-up appointments and services.

Members' Choice Extras Providers

We have negotiated agreements with a large number of extras providers across Australia to provide you with greater value, and in most cases, higher Benefits for treatments, capped fees or discounts on some services. Our Members' Choice Network includes a wide range of extras providers including dentists, dental prosthetists, optical retail outlets, chiropractors, physiotherapists, podiatrists, acupuncturists and naturopaths.

Therefore, if you choose to be treated by a Members' Choice Extras Provider you can get more from your cover, including:

  • a free check-up, scale and clean twice a year at a Members' Choice dentist
  • great deals with our Members' Choice optical retail network including: 20% minimum discount off the normal retail price of frames and 15% discount off lenses, contact lenses, add-ons and sunglasses.

Reduce your costs with our GapCover Scheme

GapCover arrangements can help you minimise your out-of-pocket expenses for in-hospital medical services if your doctor or specialist elects to participate in Medibank Private's GapCover Scheme. Please discuss GapCover along with any out-of-pocket expenses you might incur with your doctor or specialist before treatment.
