What's covered?

We'll pay Benefits towards:

Restricted Services

We'll pay lower Benefits in a private hospital for:

  • In-hospital psychiatric or rehabilitation treatment
  • Cardio-thoracic Procedures, such as angiograms or open heart or bypass surgery
  • Major Eye Surgery
  • Hip and knee joint replacement surgery
  • Obstetrics-related Services
  • Assisted reproductive services such as IVF and GIFT
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Public Hospital

If you choose to be are treated in a public hospital as a private patient, we cover the cost of shared room only for both overnight accommodation and Same Day Admissions, less any applicable Excess. If you receive treatment in a private room, you may have to pay an additional amount.

Excess

An Excess is an amount that you agree to pay if admitted to hospital in exchange for lower premiums.

The Excess options are:

Singles Couples, Families and Single Parent Families
Level 1 $150 $300
Level 2 $250 $500

Daily Co-payment

For treatment in Members’ Choice and Contracted Hospitals, the Daily Co-payment will be:

Same Day $50
Overnight stay $50 a day - shared room
$80 a day - private room		 } to a maximum of $280 per hospital stay

If your Dependent Child is admitted to hospital you won’t have to pay the Excess or Daily Co-payment.

Additional out-of-pocket expenses may apply in Contracted Hospitals and in non Members’ Choice Hospitals.
